Head torch trail run Hathersage

Route Map and Parking: In the pub car park. Running Anti Clockwise.

What.

A pleasant 5 mile jaunt along the Derwent before cutting our way up onto Lawrence Field Moor and over Millstone Edge. The going is never too tough but there are some steep climbs and some rocky and uneven tracks and trails so confidence on running on these with a head torch is important for this run.

The route.

From the Millstone Pub we drop down quite quickly to reach the river back, a short trundle along here leads us to an off shot path leading us up and over the railway. The main climb of the route starts here, picking our way through Lower Padley and Bole Hill to reach the fields above Lawrencefield Edge. Cross Hathersage Road and take the rocky path over Millstone Edge and beyond towards Mitchell Field Farm. A pleasant but muddy path returns us to Hathersage Road with the last 500m on the pavement back to the warm and cosy Millstone Pub.

It's important to remember that this route is very exposed and will get most of the weather going so proper kit is essential!

Other important things you need to know.

Although we sort the route we ask that everyone who comes along is able to look after themselves and isn't reliant upon any other member of the team, this means you need to have the appropriate equipment (Waterproof tops and bottoms, hats and gloves, water and food, map and compass and an idea of where we are going to be running).

Post run.
