Head Torch Trail Run - Wyming Brooks & Stanage

Wyming Brooks front Runner trail run

Route Map and Parking: Parking at the top of Wyming Brooks. Running anti-clockwise.

What.

A slightly longer than normal seven miler (!). Never too hilly but taxing at times and being a little longer we'd expect to be out for around 80-90 minutes. The route is pretty exposed to if the weather is bad it could be pretty nippy! However, if the weather Gods are on our side the views over the valleys are splendid (even at night).

The route.

A quick blast up the road before turning off onto the conduit, skirting around towards the Headstones and bearing left up to the lone building. A brief foray via the grouse butts drops us at Stanage Edge. A left onto there Edge gives a mile of wonderfully technical running over boulders to reach Stanage pole. From here we drop back down to road head and turn right to skirt around the reservoirs back to the car park.

It's not the hilliest of runs but is a little further than normal and the terrain from the end of the conduit to Stanage Pole is quite taxing.

It's important to remember that this route is very exposed and will get most of the weather going so proper kit is essential!

Other important things you need to know.

Although we sort the route we ask that everyone who comes along is able to look after themselves and isn't reliant upon any other member of the team, this means you need to have the appropriate equipment (Waterproof tops and bottoms, hats and gloves, water and food, map and compass and an idea of where we are going to be running).

Post run.

A drink in the Sportsman.
