Our Sheffield Half Taster Sessions are back for the 5th year.
Since the course changed to a city centre start heading out up Ringinglow Road and back along Eccy Road South we've taken two Taster Sessions on the route each year.
The sessions are aimed at beginners, those who maybe haven't done a half marathon before, aren't sure what to expect from the route or would like to get some hints and tips on how to tackle the event.
This year Steve will be helped out by part-time staff member Matt Rimmer. Matt is a man of many talents, he's a fully qualified running coach, a leader in running fitness, he has a wealth of personal running experience and perhaps has the best time management of anyone we've ever, ever met (we're pretty sure he has his own version of Bernard's Watch).
Both Steve and Matt will be on hand to answer questions on training, injuries, half marathon day tactics, nutrition and any other questions you’ve to ask about running.
The First Session.
Saturday March 9th, 9.30am at Front Runner
The aim of the session is to prepare you for running the Sheffield Half Marathon. It’s aimed at those who are a little apprehensive about the day and would like some guidance and support. It’s important to remember that the majority of the people running on Sunday 8th of April are probably feeling the same as you. This is a great chance to meet a few of those people, quiz Steve & Matt and generally ease any pre race nerves.
We'll have a short chat in the shop before heading out along the route from Hunters Bar up to the Norfolk Arms and back down again. If you don’t think you can make the full distance then there is the option of catching the bus back from Bents Green.
The route is 10.5km in length and will take around 70-80 minutes.
