Trail Run - Stanage Edge

7th June 2016

Trail Run - Stanage Edge

When.

Tuesday 7th June, meeting at 6.30 for a 6.45 depart. Please park in the car park / Lay-by in-between the two cattle grids (See Map).

The route.

A route which takes in Stanage Edge has to be good! We'll be heading up from the High Neb car park along the bridleway up on to the edge. Head towards Burbage Edge but cut off towards Higgar Tor aiming for Hathersage. From Hathersage we'll be climbing gradually back up to Stanage, winding our way up Hood Brook.

The route is around 5 miles and although it is a little hilly the climbs are generally long and never too steep. The terrain over Stanage can be tricky with quite a bit of boulder hopping but in general the paths are of good quality and a trail shoe should be fine.

What to wear and bring.

Although the clocks will have changed to BST there is still every chance we might get caught out so please bring your own personal head torch, hat, gloves and waterproof jacket. We expect everyone who attends the have the experience and equipment to be self sufficient on the hills and not be dependent on any other member of the group out running.

Please bring appropriate clothing. If the forecast is bad then come prepared (Hats / gloves / jackets / spare clothes / head torch) and if the weather is blisteringly hot... also come prepared (Sun hat / sun cream / water).

Post run.

We'll nip into the Norfolk Arms en route back to Sheffield for a drink, crisps and a chat.
