Front Runner Trail Run - Above Chatsworth Estate
Front Runner Trail Run - Swiss Lakes above Chatsworth Estate
It's trail run time and we're off to the Swiss Lakes, the Swiss Lakes of the Chatsworth Estate. The run will be a little longer at 6.5 miles but not excessive hilly. Depending on the weather the route can get quite muddy however, if it's been dry then the trails are very runnable.
We'll be meeting outside the Robin Hood Pub near to Baslow.
Aim to meet at 6.30pm for a 6.45pm departure.
A 6.5 mile trail run. From the pub we'll head down the road for a few hundred metres to enter the Chatsworth Estate by the back door. The most technical section of the run comes at us straightaway as we head up the path next to the Chesterfield Road, cross the Emperor Stream and up the steep bank to reach the East Moor. The farm track takes us swiftly over the top of the estate bound for Hob's Hurst House. After a little detour to looks at Hob's place we'll turn back towards Chatsworth House, keeping our height we'll stay high aiming for the Hunting Tower, carrying on to run above Dobb and Chatsworth Edges before reaching the Robin Hood.
Who is it suitable for?
The run is not easy and we do ask that everyone who comes can easily run 7 miles and has some experience of off road running.
Other important things you need to know.
Although we sort the route we ask that everyone who comes along is able to look after themselves and isn't reliant upon any other member of the team, this means you need to have the appropriate equipment (Waterproof tops and bottoms, hats and gloves, water and food, map and compass and an idea of where we are going to be running or water, suncream, hat).
