Past Trail Runs - Calver
Past Trail Run - Calver, Tuesday 17th March
Unlike a number of runs in the Peak this weeks run had a nice, steady start to it. Coombs Dale valley is a lovely path winding it's way up onto Longstone Moor.
A brief pitstop at above the working quarries and some team head torch tactics helped to light up the vast quarries beneath. I always find the juxtaposition of the quarries and open moorland fascinating; something quite ugly and manufactured set inside this beautiful landscape.
The descent off Calver Peak was down the superb technical trail used in the Calver Fell Race (not long now). This is tough in daylight but with a head torch and in wet conditions it's a tough and technical descent.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, we had 2 new trail runners too :-) A few ideas were thrown about for the next trail run over a drink in the Derwent Water Arms.
