Trail Run - Abney Moor to Shatton Moor

2nd August 2016

Trail Run - Abney Moor to Shatton Moor

When & where?

Meeting at 6.30pm on Tuesday the 2nd of August. Either meet us as the Barrel Inn pub in Bretton or if you'd like a lift from Front Runner please get in touch. We'll be leaving the pub at 6.45pm.

A nice steady sociable run around the Peak District.

The route.

The route is predominantly on trails and open moorland. If it's been try then trail shoes will be fine but after wet weather it can get a bit muddy underfoot. We'll be heading over Abney Moor down into Bretton Brooks before climbing up onto Shatton Moor. Contouring anticlockwise around the edge towards Bleak Knoll and the delightfully named Deadmen's Clough. We'll cross Bretton Clough at it's top end before crossing the road and winding out way back to the Barrel Inn. It's around 6 miles in length, with some pokey hills so we'll be out for around 75 minutes.

Other important things you need to know.

Although we sort the route we ask that everyone who comes along is able to look after themselves and isn't reliant upon any other member of the team, this means you need to have the appropriate equipment (Waterproof tops and bottoms, hats and gloves, water and food, map and compass and an idea of where we are going to be running).

Post run.

We're hoping for fine weather so we can sit outside the Barrel Inn and enjoy the magnificent view.
