Trail Run & La Sportiva Demo Kit Trial
Trail Run & La Sportiva & Ultimate Direction Demo Kit Trial
We'll be combining this months trail run with a La Sportiva Demo evening. The guys from La Sportiva will be joining us with a selection of demo shoes - You'll get the chance to pick a pair out, take them for a run, get 'em muddy, wet and smelly and just hand them back at the end. Similarly UD will have a load of try-on packs for you to use and abuse.
The Demo events are a great opportunity to try kit out without having to buy it, if you're in the market for a pair of trail or fell shoes then come along and see if any of the La Sportiva range suit your feet. Equally if you've never used a race vest before this is the ideal time to come and try one out.
The shoes that will be available are the Mutant, Helios, Bushido and Akasha.
Where & When?
We'll be meeting at the Totley Cricket Pitch Pavillion at 6.20pm for a 6.45pm departure.
The route will be the Blackamoor Fell Race route with a bit added on to notch it up to 10km. The route is pretty hilly and does have some technical sections in there so isn't suitable for those that have never run off road before. From the Cricket Pitch we'll head up Strawberry Lee Lane and then on up "The Sting in the Tail', this takes up on to the moor, peeling off to the right "around the bend" into the Seven Sycamores Field. Gently up this and then slightly off course rising up to the top of the moor. A right turn and a gentle downhill takes us to the road. Following the path next to the road we'll head to the mini-car park at the top of the Blacka Moor Plantation. Down the bridleway adjacent to Hathersage Road. Off of the Blacka Moor fell race route now and nipping down to the Elbow of the Devil's Elbow, straight on here takes us onto a lesser travelled path above the main Devil's path. Fingers crossed the undergrowth and bracken hasn't had enough chance to grow to thick. After we rejoin the main bridleway we'll head back up to the stepping stones for a quick paddle through the river and a climb up to the bench, one last steep down and then a cruise back along Strawberry Lee Lane.
Other important things you need to know.
Although we sort the route we ask that everyone who comes along is able to look after themselves and isn't reliant upon any other member of the team, this means you need to have the appropriate equipment (Waterproof tops and bottoms, hats and gloves or sun hat, suncream etc if it's warm, water and food, map and compass and an idea of where we are going to be running).
