Head torch Trail Run - Chatsworth Swiss Lakes

12th October 2016

Head torch Trail Run - Chatsworth Swiss Lakes

Meeting at 6.45pm for a 7pm departure on Wednesday the 12th October. We'll be meeting by the Robin Hood Pub (see map). Although we'll be going for a drink in the pub post run it's best not to use their car park. Instead there is an Eastern Moors partnership car park next to the pubs' or over the road is another car park which is free of charge.

Parking Chatsworth trail run

Parking: Near to the Robin Hood Pub just up from the large Chatsworth Roundabout.

A lovely run mixing some quite technical single track running over the top of Chatsworth Edge Rocks towards the Swiss Lakes  with the smooth and easy run on trails which circumnavigate the lakes. There's a tasty bit of downhill through the woods above the house leading towards the jubilee rock before returning along farm track and paths to the pub. On the whole it's not too difficult and is suitable for those who are just getting into head torch running. However this should not be the first time you run 10km!

The route.

Route: Doesn't look great overlaid on an OS map but is better than the shape suggests!

As above the route is generally on good paths and tracks and is without any significant hills. There are parts where the path becomes narrow and it's a rocky but on the whole is not too strenuous. The route is around 5.5 miles and will take us about an hour.

Other important things you need to know.

Although we sort the route we ask that everyone who comes along is able to look after themselves and isn't reliant upon any other member of the team, this means you need to have the appropriate equipment (Waterproof tops and bottoms, hats and gloves, water and food, map and compass and an idea of where we are going to be running).

Post run.
