Past Trail Run - Calver Peak
Well, this was a little different to Monday nights Social Shop Run. There was a good turn out for tonight runs with 14 of us heading out, this was perhaps, just maybe, possibly helped by the sun showing his warm face.
We were combining this trail run with a recce of the Calver Peak Fell Race. It always helps to run a race route prior to going all guns blazing on it. You'll learn when and where to push, technicalities of the trail, where the gates, low branches and bottlenecks are. In addition to this the routes tend to be really pleasant and the this route is no different. The initial climb is followed by some delightful, gently downhill single track running, another little kick is then followed by a forgiving track with spectacular views of Curbar and Froggatt edges. The piece de resistance however is the limestone track you bundle down to get back into Calver, it's fact, technical and really good run!
Thanks to everyone who came along, the company was great and the beer in the Derwent Waterarms pretty good too.
